The
Tie That Binds have been slugging
it out on the local Houston scene for over ten years now. Weathering
many personel changes the band forges on. Shortly after the release
of their debut album, "Slowly Sinking Under"
(One Foot Records) founding members Kevin Richardson and Alex Arizpe
parted company. Steve Duarte then stepped up to the mic taking up the
main song writing and singing duties. Then original member Aaron Richardson
dropped out early this year, after the release of "Half
Past Heroes" (Arms Reach Recordings) in 2001. Meanwhile,
Dwayne Cathey, formerly of The John Sparrow, has replaced Rudy Duarte
on drums joining remaining members Steve Duarte (vocals, guitar) and
Jesse Garcia on bass. In the process the band became closer than before
and tighter than ever. They have always been influenced by (and compared
to) Samiam, Seaweed, along with early eighties metal, pop, and punk
all the while bringing their own unique style of emo-core rock to Houston
and every city they hit on tour.
