The band Descent Into Madness was formed in January 2001 by Tom Spencer, formerly of After Dark, Second Nature, Violent Blue and Raindance; and Alexander Kamburov from Lost Angels, Final Xit and Dissident. The idea for the new band formed when Alex heard Tom sing on an old demo tape. Shortly after that, they decided on a Goth/Metal sound and a H.P.Lovecraft inspired band name: Descent Into Madness (DIM). With that out of the way it was time to record. Tom taking on vocals, guitar and synths, and Alex on lead guitar, with both trading out on bass duties, they set up a digital studio where they began working on the material for their first demo. The first song "I Cannot Believe" was recorded in two days. After the demo was recorded, it helped recruit the perfect rhytm section - Andrew Sutton (bass) and Chris Peterson (drums) and the band started working on a studio LP consisting of 4-5 songs, while shopping the demo songs to record companies. The band also began writing new material with new band members Courtney Claiborne (female vocals) and Derek Brown on keys. Descent Into Madness has finished work on their first self-produced record release titled "In The Darkest Hour." You can get samples at Descent Into Madness.Com and catch them Saturday, November 23rd, 2003 9:30 PM opening for Bad Candie at Cardi's 2000, 9301 Bissonnet, Houston, TX 77074, 713-270-0053. |
